The overlay is typically the first part of the device that the user notices and helps the user identify how to control the device. Graphic overlays are one of the top-notch components of membrane switches that offer robust benefits. Read more about graphic overlays in membrane switches here.
What material should I use for my graphic overlay?
Graphic Overlays are often thought of as the “face” of your product, precisely because they’re the top layer and the viewing surface of the product. Different materials are needed for various applications. Click here to read more about what material you should pick for your graphic overlay.

Can I incorporate dead fronting into my graphic overlay design?
Yes, we help you create the perfect product to hide or show icons depending on the level of dead fronting needed in your design.
Are graphic overlays screen printed or digitally printed?
We can print graphic overlays both ways. Our team will work with you to determine which printing method best suits your needs. It is common for many graphic overlays to be involved in both print procedures. Sometimes overlays are digitally printed, but they need to also go through screen printing to add a protective textured layer to the front of the material.
Does BTI have color matching capabilities?
Yes, BTI uses a photo spectrometer to detect the specific color that a sample part has. Our graphics team can also pull colors from digital files to get the most accurate color for your project. Would you please read what our in-house digital printing expert says about color matching?
Caution: Using old physical parts to color match could be problematic. Some ink can fade or discolor within just a few years. This could lead to not matching the color the product was initially designed as.
Are graphic overlays the same thing as nameplates or faceplates?
No. Unlike nameplates and faceplates, graphic overlays are usually attached as a functional front piece to the product.
Can graphic overlays be used in the construction industry?
Graphic Overlays are commonly used within an industrial setting primarily because of the vast array of equipment used within the field. Graphic Overlays help bring all these applications to life because they allow the user to interact with the product successfully. Before Graphic Overlays, user error was drastically higher because of the industrial equipment's misinterpretation or misuse. Read more about graphic overlay constructions here.
